Eiko Shimamiya (島みやえい子 Shimamiya Eiko) also called EIKO or PEKO, is a female J-pop singer and former member of the production group I've Sound who has sung many theme songs for Higurashi.
Originating as a lecturer in vocal course Sapporo School of Music, Eiko soon entered the entertainment world in 2001, producing many songs, singles and albums. Aside from her singing career, Eiko also handles a school in Sapporo called Shimamiya Size (S-size). Some of her former students include I've Sound singers Mami Kawada, Kotoko and Kaori Utatsuki. On May 10th, 2010, Eiko announced via Twitter that she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Due to this, her "Perfect World Live Tour", which was scheduled to begin in June, was subsequently canceled. Although a year later on January 28th, 2011, Eiko made an announcement of her full recovery from cancer. Since then, she has continued her career without any further problems.
