A Higurashi/Shirakawa-go stamp ad-campaign done to promote the switch game

Shirakawa-go(白川郷;しらかわごう)is a world heritage site and the basis of the village of Hinamizawa portrayed in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series.

The Hinamizawa Dam Conflict and the sound novel illustration of the dam area are actually based on the building of the Miboro Dam, which in the end, did result in 4 villages, one temple, and 250 houses being submerged underwater. Two large cherry blossom trees were recovered from the submerged temple and placed in Shirakawa-go, and locals say that in the spring, when the cherry blossoms are blooming, each flower represents a memory of the people from the drowned villages.

One of the in-game locations is named "Shirakawa Park" likely in homage to the place. It is the park where the Houjou couple died during the second year of the curse.
