"Nomura" is a character in the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series, and a member of the "Tōkyō" organization. She first appears after Koizumi dies in Shōwa 56 (1981) and confronts Takano Miyo about the future of her research into the Hinamizawa Syndrome.

    Involvement[]

Her true motive is to have the Old Koizumi faction in "Tōkyō" fall due to the Great Hinamizawa Disaster (GHD). She is shown to be a skilled manipulator of emotions, using Takano's grief and acting as though she understands in order to gain her trust and become the new patron of the research institution.

Nomura promises Takano that when the GHD occurs she will be allotted a new research facility elsewhere and that she will be able to research as much as she pleases. For her part, Takano has her doubts about Nomura's true intentions, and eventually suspects that she will probably be disposed of by her faction, but she decides to use Nomura as an opportunity to continue her work.

Nomura uses Takano to make the GHD happen in order to make the "Alphabet Project" become questioned and ultimately have the Old Koizumi, Chiba and Okuno factions fall. Nomura is not her real name, nor is it known; she uses several nicknames with different people such as speaking to the Chief Cabinet Secretary as "Maizawa."

Although Takano paid the Yamainu millions of yen, sufficiently for her to believe they will unquestionably carryout any of her plans including GHD, their leader Okonogi, was paid an even larger sum by Nomura and is in direct contact with her (Codename: "Cuckoo"). He is aware of the "backup scenario" which involves forcing Takano to commit suicide or cover-up her murder as the result of her resistance in order for Takano to become the convenient scapegoat.

During the credits of the manga version of Matsuribayashi-hen, a formal letter is shown, written by Nomura, with multiple sections crossed out, notably the part that says that the government will investigate Okonogi for his involvement in the coup. This implies that, on top of receiving a fairly large sum, the Yamainu also received protection from any and all repercurssions.

In the third season's final episode, Nomura orders her execution in a flashback. She calls Takano to remind her that she must induce the Hinamizawa Syndrome in Jirō.

    Trivia[]

    • Her true name is unknown. Throughout the series she is seen using at least four different names in phone calls.
    • Nomura's name consists of the Kanji characters for field (野, No) and village (村, Mura). A semi-English transliteration of her name would read as "No Village". This may allude to her role as the true villain of the series responsible for the annihilation of the village in many arcs.
    • Nomura's physical appearance is based on Suigintō from Rozen Maiden by her silverly-white hair and purple eyes, they are both manipulative and villainous and they both also shared the same Japanese seiyū.
